According to Smokey Barn News, a father is facing legal charges in connection with the terrible death of two children in a single-vehicle rollover accident near Springfield. According to Smokey Barn News, the collision happened around 7:22 p.m. on Friday in the 4700 block of Highway 161.
Brent Dyer, Director of Robertson County EMS, told Smokey Barn News that a guy was driving the vehicle with two children on board. Officials verified that both toddlers died from their injuries on the site.
According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP), Mansfield was driving west on Highway 161 when he drifted off to the right and collided with a culvert. After the initial impact, the vehicle became airborne and crashed with a power pole. According to investigators, the driver denied medical aid, while the two children, ages four and seven, were confirmed dead at the site.

Lukas Mansfield, 36 years old, is charged with two counts of aggravated vehicular homicide and one count of driving under the influence, as stated by the Tennessee Highway Patrol and booking records. The deceased children have been identified as 7-year-old Miah Mansfield and her 4-year-old brother, Jackson Mansfield, according to Smokey Barn News.
Miah’s school, South Haven Christian School in Springfield, issued a statement regarding her untimely death:
“It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we write to inform you of a tragic event that has deeply affected our school family. Yesterday evening, we lost two of our own, Miah Mansfield and her younger brother Jackson, two of our beloved students, who passed away following a tragic accident. Our hearts break for the family, and we ask for your prayers for the family during this incredibly difficult time.
“In times like this, we are reminded of God’s great love and faithfulness, even when we face overwhelming grief. While we cannot fully understand the reasons behind such heartbreaking events, we can take comfort as the Scripture reminds us in 2 Corinthians 1:3-4, ‘Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort. Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able…’”
