David J McGee Obituary, Death; – A man with disabilities from Hampton County lost his life after being struck by a vehicle near his home in the Nixville community, adjacent to Estill.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol, along with the Hampton County Sheriff’s Office, reported that the tragic single-vehicle accident took place at 6:50 p.m. on Monday, January 27, on Two Sisters Ferry Road. The incident occurred near the intersection with Speed Limit Road, in proximity to Nixville Baptist Church, approximately five miles east of Estill, a town in southern Hampton County.
Master Trooper William Bennett of the S.C. Highway Patrol stated that the driver of the 2006 Ford sedan was the sole occupant of the vehicle and did not sustain any injuries.
Hampton County Coroner Anna Fields identified the deceased as David J. McGee, a 56-year-old resident of 3925 Two Sisters Ferry Road. Coroner Fields pronounced him dead at the scene at 7:35 p.m., as reported by the Coroner’s Office. The deceased, who was the brother-in-law of the preacher at Nixville Baptist Church, was a well-known figure in the community and was described as having disabilities, according to Fields.
As per the collision report from the SCHP, the 2006 Ford was traveling westbound when it struck the pedestrian who was crossing the highway near the intersection. Master Trooper Bennett indicated that the SCHP is conducting an investigation into the incident. No charges have been filed at this time, as noted by Fields.
