The Fulton County Sheriff’s Office reported that the incident took place near Rice Lake on U.S. Highway 24. A Dodge pickup truck, driven by a 55-year-old man from Humble, Texas, veered across the centerline and collided with a Kia SUV operated by Kapraun.
Kapraun was pronounced dead at the scene by the Fulton County Coroner. The driver of the Dodge was transported to Graham Hospital’s Emergency Department, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
Authorities are still investigating the cause of the crash.
While the investigation is ongoing, Carina Kapraun’s family may consider filing a wrongful death claim. Families of wrongful death victims may seek compensation for loss of companionship, pain and suffering, and emotional distress following such a tragic accident.
“Losing a loved one in an accident can be an incredibly overwhelming experience,” said Candice Bond. “It is crucial for families to have their rights protected during such difficult times. A wrongful death attorney can monitor the investigation and ensure their best interests are represented.”
Bond, a Managing Partner with Bond Legal, added that investigators will assess factors such as road conditions, visibility, and lighting. “Accident reconstruction teams may also be needed to determine the exact circumstances of the crash. These resources are essential in helping families secure financial compensation for their loss,” she said.
