Kenneth Johnson Obituary, Death; – The Jefferson Parish Coroner’s Office has confirmed the identity of the man who was reportedly fatally stabbed by a 71-year-old neighbor during a confrontation in Harvey.
Kenneth Johnson, aged 66, succumbed to his injuries following the incident that occurred on January 23. Walter Green Jr., 71, the individual accused of the stabbing, was apprehended at the scene, as reported by the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office. Both Johnson and Green resided as neighbors on the 1900 block of Estalote Avenue, according to official sources.
The altercation between the two men took place around 2:10 p.m., during which Green allegedly stabbed Johnson in the abdomen. The Sheriff’s Office has not disclosed the specific nature of the dispute. Johnson was transported to University Medical Center in New Orleans, where he later died from his injuries, as stated by the Coroner’s Office.
Initially charged with aggravated battery, Green’s charge was subsequently elevated to manslaughter following Johnson’s death, according to the Sheriff’s Office. As of Tuesday, Green is being held at the Jefferson Parish Correctional Center in Gretna, with bail set at $350,000 for the manslaughter charge.
