Tragically, an ATV accident near Alabaster on Sunday claimed the life of a teenager.
Anderson Gutirres, 14, has been confirmed as the deceased by Shelby County Coroner Lina Evans. Authorities said that the young ATV operator lost control of the vehicle. The incident happened on May View Court just before 9:30 a.m.
Anderson was unconscious and undergoing CPR when Alabaster police and medical staff arrived. After being quickly taken to Shelby Baptist Medical Center, he was eventually declared deceased.
Another juvenile was taken to the hospital as a precautionary measure. Chief Curtis Rigney expressed his condolences, stating, “Our thoughts and prayers are with the family during this time of tragedy. We are also praying for the community, officers, paramedics, and others involved in this unfortunate incident.”
The investigation into the matter is still ongoing.
