The community of Sackville, New Brunswick, is in mourning after the passing of David Edward Acton, a cherished husband, father, and community leader. David passed away peacefully on July 30, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love, service, and dedication that will continue to inspire those who knew him.

    What Happened

David’s passing, though peaceful, was unexpected and has left his family and community heartbroken. His absence is deeply felt by his loved ones, especially by his wife Anna, with whom he shared 59 years of marriage. His family, friends, and community members now cope with the loss of a man who touched countless lives with his kindness and dedication.

    Who Was David Edward Acton?

David was a man of many roles—devoted husband to Anna, loving father to his four children, and a respected figure in the Sackville community. He was known not only for his work as a farmer but also for his involvement in local activities, including serving as president of the curling club, coaching hockey, and being an active member of his church. David’s passion for his community extended to his work as an Outstanding Young Farmer representative for Atlantic Canada, where he made a lasting impact on the agricultural community.

David’s kindness, generosity, and commitment to his family and community made him a beloved figure in Sackville. He will be missed deeply by his wife, children, grandchildren, and the many people whose lives he touched.

    Background or Timeline

David is survived by his wife of 59 years, Anna Acton (Beal); his children Derrick (Catherine), Dean (Roxanne), Dwayne (Shawna), and Juanita (Doug) Benjamin; daughter-in-law Denise; his brother Robert (Laura); his brother-in-law Garth Dunbar; and ten grandchildren: Danika, Savanna, Dawson, Spencer, Delaney, Lindsay, Colby, Paige, Tyler, and Laine. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents Reginald and Ina Acton and his sister Joan.

David’s life was marked by his unwavering commitment to his family, his community, and his work on the farm. His legacy will live on through the fields he tended, the lessons he imparted, and the memories he created with his loved ones.

    Public or Social Media Reaction

Messages of love and sympathy have poured in from David’s family, friends, and the community. Many have shared how his leadership, kindness, and dedication to his family and the community shaped their lives. The outpouring of support reflects the profound impact David had on everyone he encountered.

Official Statement or What Happens Next

The family is planning a memorial service to honor David’s life and legacy. Funeral arrangements will be shared with family and friends in the coming days.
