CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A violent and heartbreaking incident in northeast Charlotte has left a community reeling after Jeremy Mouzon, 44, was fatally stabbed and struck by a vehicle in the early hours of Sunday, August 3. Police have launched a homicide investigation into what they describe as a disturbing and targeted attack.

    What Happened

The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department (CMPD) responded to an emergency call around 3 a.m. on Redwood Avenue near East Sugar Creek Road, in the NoDa-adjacent area. Officers arrived to find Jeremy Mouzon critically injured with wounds consistent with multiple stabbings and being hit by a vehicle.

Mouzon was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he later died from his injuries. Authorities believe the assailant—or assailants—fled the scene in a vehicle before officers arrived. A further search led police to Mouzon’s nearby apartment, where they found signs of forced entry, suggesting the attack may have begun there.

The case, initially opened as a death investigation, was quickly upgraded to a homicide as evidence mounted.

Jeremy Mouzon, 44, was a resident of northeast Charlotte. While few personal details have been made public, friends and neighbors describe him as a quiet, respectful individual.
