Cindy Rodriguez-Singh, a former fugitive on the FBI’s 10 Most Wanted list, has been apprehended and is now in custody at the Tarrant County Jail, with her bond set at $10 million. The 44-year-old woman is accused of killing her disabled 6-year-old son, Noel Rodriguez-Alvarez, in Everman, Texas, and fleeing the country to India more than two years ago.

    What Happened

Rodriguez-Singh was arrested in India after more than two years on the run. She is accused of killing her son, Noel, who had physical and developmental disabilities. Despite the absence of his remains, Noel is presumed dead. Rodriguez-Singh’s disappearance began after a welfare check in March 2023, during which she claimed that Noel had been living with his biological father in Mexico since the fall of 2022. Two days after the welfare check, Rodriguez-Singh, her husband Arshdeep Singh, and six other children boarded a flight to India, never to return. The FBI, working with Indian authorities, successfully tracked and arrested her, bringing her back to the United States.

    Who Is Cindy Rodriguez-Singh

Cindy Rodriguez-Singh is accused of capital murder after allegedly killing her son, Noel Rodriguez-Alvarez, and fleeing the United States to avoid prosecution. Described by Everman police as referring to her son as “evil” and “possessed by a demon,” Rodriguez-Singh’s actions shocked the community. She had been a fugitive for over two years, leading to her placement on the FBI’s 10 Most Wanted list. Authorities praised the successful international collaboration that led to her arrest, highlighting the notion that “justice has no borders,” as noted by R. Joseph Rothrock, the special agent in charge of the FBI’s Dallas office.

    Background or Timeline

Rodriguez-Singh’s disappearance began in late 2022 after her son, Noel, was last seen. Her statements to police during a welfare check in March 2023 were found to be false, which led to suspicions about Noel’s fate. After her flight to India, authorities tracked her movements, and the FBI eventually worked with Indian law enforcement to locate and arrest Rodriguez-Singh. Her arrest brings closure to a case that had left the community, especially Noel’s family, in turmoil for over two years.

    Public or Social Media Reaction

The news of Rodriguez-Singh’s arrest has garnered widespread attention, with many expressing relief that the search for justice has been resolved. The case has sparked conversations about child welfare, the dangers of neglect, and the challenges law enforcement faces when tracking international fugitives. The FBI’s announcement of Rodriguez-Singh’s arrest was met with praise for the agency’s perseverance and dedication to bringing her to justice.

Official Statement or What Happens Next

Rodriguez-Singh faces charges of capital murder for the death of her son and federal charges for unlawfully fleeing the country to avoid prosecution. Tarrant County Criminal District Attorney Phil Sorrells has not indicated whether the death penalty will be pursued, as the office has not made contact with Indian authorities regarding that matter. The legal process for Rodriguez-Singh’s case will continue, with her upcoming trial drawing attention both in the U.S. and internationally.
