It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Patrick Miljour, a beloved resident of Asheville, North Carolina, who tragically lost his life in a fatal river accident. Originally from Gwinn, Michigan, Patrick’s adventurous spirit and generous heart left a lasting impact on everyone who had the privilege to know him. His untimely departure leaves a profound void in the hearts of his family, friends, and the communities he touched through his life and work.

    What Happened

Patrick was a true lover of the outdoors, with a passion for kayaking and snowboarding that defined much of his life. His connection to nature was unwavering, and he spent countless hours exploring the rivers and mountains of the Southeast. Whether navigating rapids or carving snowy slopes, Patrick’s fearless spirit and love for adventure inspired those around him. Through these experiences, he forged deep friendships that felt more like family than friendship.

Beyond his personal passions, Patrick was also a visionary entrepreneur and steadfast supporter of those around him. In 1993, he played a crucial role in the birth of Savage Designs, a now-renowned name in the kayaking world. Patrick’s belief in the potential of a friend’s first Scorpion kayak prototype led him to encourage investment in the project—an act of faith and encouragement that helped shape the future of the company. His commitment to the business and his friends was unwavering, earning him respect as a trusted partner known for his work ethic, vision, and generosity.

    Reactions

Patrick’s legacy extends far beyond his professional accomplishments and adventurous lifestyle. He was a man of kindness and integrity, whose warm presence brought joy and encouragement to many. His ability to connect with others, offer support, and inspire action made him a treasured member of both the local and broader communities.

As we mourn the loss of Patrick Miljour, we also celebrate a life well-lived—a life marked by courage, friendship, and an enduring spirit of adventure. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved him and in the stories shared among friends and family.

    What’s Next

We extend our deepest condolences to Patrick’s loved ones and all who were touched by his remarkable life. As his family and friends grieve, they can take comfort in the enduring legacy he leaves behind, one that is filled with love, adventure, and a spirit that will never be forgotten. Patrick’s story serves as a reminder to live life with courage, authenticity, and an open heart—qualities that he embodied in everything he did.

This is a developing story. We will update this article as more information becomes available.
