It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Eli Anthony Katinsky, a cherished member of the Festus, Missouri community. Eli, who passed away on September 10, 2025, at the young age of 19, was a bright and inquisitive soul whose vibrant personality and passion for life left a lasting impression on all who knew him.

    What Happened

Eli was born on July 22, 2006, in St. Louis, Missouri, and grew up to be a shining example of creativity and curiosity. From an early age, Eli was captivated by technology and innovation. He was known for his love of exploring new software and imagining bold ideas, constantly driven by a desire to learn and create. His intellect and enthusiasm for discovery made him a standout in his community, where his passion was felt by everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.

    Reactions

Eli’s death has deeply affected his family, friends, and the entire Festus community. At Festus High School, Eli was a beloved figure, excelling in both the theater and band programs. His expressive nature, quick wit, and dedication made him a favorite among fellow students and teachers alike. Whether performing in a school play or contributing to musical performances, Eli’s energy and joy brought a special spark to every project he was involved in.

His friends remember him for his unwavering loyalty, infectious laughter, and the kindness he showed to everyone around him. His teachers remember his curiosity and eagerness to learn, as well as the positive impact he had on those around him. Eli’s generosity and warmth created lasting bonds, and his memory will be carried on by all who were touched by his spirit.

    What’s Next

Eli’s family, including his parents, Anthony Allen and Shante Marie (Matheny) Katinsky, and his siblings, are deeply mourning his loss. They ask for privacy during this difficult time, but they have also expressed a desire to keep Eli’s memory alive by supporting causes that were close to his heart. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the CHADS Coalition for Mental Health, an organization dedicated to supporting mental health awareness, which Eli strongly supported.

A memorial gathering will be held at 2401 Garden Lane, Festus, Missouri, from September 12–14, between 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. Friends, family, and community members are invited to attend to honor Eli’s life and share stories of his kindness, creativity, and laughter.

    Closing

This is a developing story. We will update this article as more information becomes available.

Eli’s legacy of kindness, passion, and creativity will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. His bright spirit and infectious enthusiasm for life will be deeply missed, but his memory will continue to inspire those who had the privilege of sharing in his journey. Rest in peace, Eli. You will never be forgotten.
