With deep sadness and heartfelt sympathy, we extend our condolences to the family, friends, and community members mourning the passing of Robert Samson, a lifelong resident of Taylorville, Illinois, who passed away peacefully at his home on September 14, 2025, at the age of 39.
Born on October 7, 1985, in Springfield, IL, to Richard Lee and Debra Faye (McCarty) Samson, Robert lived a life filled with purpose, hard work, and love for his family. As the owner of Samson Concrete and a self-employed contractor, Robert was known throughout Taylorville not only for his skilled craftsmanship but for his dependability, dedication, and kind spirit. His work in the community left a lasting mark—both in the projects he completed and the relationships he built along the way.
A proud graduate of Taylorville Senior High School, Robert embraced life in his hometown with deep affection. He loved being outdoors, especially spending time with his children in the yard, fishing, playing pool, watching fireworks, and listening to music. These simple joys reflected the heart of a man who found happiness in meaningful moments with those he loved most.
Robert is survived by his children: Jayden Lee Samson, Brisa Lynn Samson, and Jordan Mahrie Samson; his parents: Rick and Debbie Samson; his grandfather: Robert Samson Sr.; his brother: Ricky Samson Jr. and companion Anita Scott; and his sister: Deanna (Chris) Gideon. He is also lovingly remembered by the mother of his children, Amanda Girard, and a large extended family of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, beloved aunt and uncles, cousin Katie McCarty, and sister-in-law DeeAnna Samson.
A visitation will be held on Friday, September 19, 2025, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville. A funeral service will follow on Saturday, September 20, 2025, at 2:00 p.m., officiated by Pastor Brennan Hurley, with interment at Oak Hill Cemetery.
