With heartfelt sorrow, we announce the passing of Lee Roy Owsley, a beloved resident of Paonia, Colorado, who departed this life on Monday, September 15, 2025, at the age of 63. Born in Gunnison, Colorado, Lee Roy lived a life defined by quiet strength, loyalty, and a deep love for nature and family.
At a young age, Lee Roy made the honorable decision to serve his country as a proud member of the United States Marine Corps. His service reflected the values that defined his life—discipline, commitment, and an unwavering sense of duty. He carried those principles with him well beyond his years in uniform, applying them in his roles as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend.
Lee Roy found great peace in the outdoors and spent countless hours exploring the natural beauty of Grand Mesa National Forest, where he especially loved camping and fishing. Whether casting a line into a quiet stream or setting up camp under the Colorado sky, he found joy and serenity in nature—often sharing those special moments with his family.
He is lovingly remembered by his wife, April, his children, and his beloved granddaughters, all of whom were the center of his world. Lee Roy’s quiet wisdom, gentle presence, and steadfast love were a guiding light for his family. His granddaughters, in particular, held a special place in his heart, and he in theirs. The memories of their time together—fishing trips, stories by the fire, and laughter under the open sky—will be treasured forever.
In accordance with Lee Roy’s wishes, there will be no formal services. He asked instead to be remembered in the ways that meant the most to him—through family gatherings, peaceful moments in nature, and the continued sharing of love and kindness with others.
We extend our deepest condolences to April and the entire Owsley family during this time of loss. While words cannot ease the pain of his absence, may the love and memories shared bring comfort and peace.
Lee Roy Owsley
Your legacy of love, service, and simplicity will live on in all who knew and loved you.
