SOUTH FULTON, Ga. — At just 10 years old, Kendall Rae Johnson is cultivating a future beyond imagination. Already recognized as the youngest certified farmer in the United States, the South Fulton fifth grader has now been awarded a full-ride scholarship to South Carolina State University.

Her story proves that success doesn’t always look like trophies or medals—it can bloom from sunshine, soil, and the joy of watching something grow.

    What Happened

Kendall Rae Johnson, who became the nation’s youngest certified farmer at just six years old, has been offered a full scholarship by South Carolina State University. Unlike traditional athletic scholarships, this award celebrates her groundbreaking contributions to agriculture and her commitment to farming as a career path.

The scholarship covers tuition, fees, room, and board—ensuring Kendall Rae can continue her journey as a trailblazer in America’s most essential industry.

    Who Is Kendall Rae Johnson?

Kendall Rae is more than a fifth grader with a green thumb. She is the heart of her family’s backyard farm, leading her parents in growing vegetables and raising animals. Her mother, Ursula, says the family follows Kendall Rae’s lead after watching her passion flourish.

“She just wanted to grow,” Ursula explained. “Once she found her love of growing, that blossomed into what you see today.”

Career and Legacy in the Making

Agriculture is Georgia’s number one industry, and Kendall Rae is already planting seeds for the next generation of farmers. Her dream is to expand her farm to 100 acres, complete with longhorn cattle, poultry, and more.

She’s also a USDA National Urban Agriculture Youth Ambassador, inspiring children nationwide to pursue farming and apply for USDA youth scholarships.

Her achievements even caught the attention of South Carolina State University President Alexander Conyers, who awarded her the scholarship typically reserved for athletes. “If I can award scholarships to athletes,” he told her family, “I should be able to do that for an ag scholar.”

    Public Reactions and Inspiration

Kendall Rae’s story has gone viral across social media, where users celebrate her as an inspiration not only for kids but also for adults chasing their dreams. Many have praised her dedication to agriculture, calling her “the future of farming” and “a reminder that passion knows no age.”

    What Happens Next

With a full-ride scholarship secured years before most children even consider college, Kendall Rae has her sights set on expanding her farm and continuing her advocacy for youth in agriculture. She hopes to inspire more children to see farming not just as a hobby, but as a path to success.

“I want to tell them to keep growing. Keep going. Keep being amazing. You do you!” Kendall Rae said.
