JACKSON, Miss. — September 18, 2025 — A fatal stabbing on Thursday afternoon has left one man dead and another facing a murder charge in Jackson.

According to the Jackson Police Department (JPD), officers responded to reports of a stabbing in the 2500 block of Idaho Street. When they arrived, they discovered Duane Kyles suffering from serious stab wounds. Despite emergency efforts, Kyles was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators quickly identified a suspect and arrested 27-year-old Dequency Jordan in connection with the killing. Jordan has since been charged with murder and is being held while the investigation continues.

Police have not released additional details about what led to the stabbing, and no motive has been confirmed at this stage.

Authorities are urging anyone with information about the case to come forward. Citizens can reach the Jackson Police Department at 601-960-1234 or provide anonymous tips through Crime Stoppers at 601-355-TIPS (8477).

The fatal incident adds to the troubling rise of violent crime in the capital city, and community leaders are once again calling for peace as law enforcement works to bring justice to Kyles’ family.
