Christian Author Frank Turek Remembers Charlie Kirk in Emotional Memorial Tribute

Tens of thousands gathered at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona, on Sunday to honor the life of Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk. Among those who spoke was Christian author Frank Turek, who shared an emotional firsthand account of Kirk’s final moments and praised his faith, family, and legacy.

    What Happened

Charlie Kirk, 31, was fatally shot on Sept. 10 during an event at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah. Turek, who was just 25 feet away when the gunfire erupted, recalled rushing toward Kirk as security whisked him to safety. Inside a nearby SUV, Turek said staff members tried desperately to revive Kirk but quickly realized he had died instantly.

“I want you to know that we did everything we could to save Charlie,” Turek told mourners. “But Charlie was already gone. His face was looking at mine, but he wasn’t looking at me. He was looking past me right into eternity.”

    Who Was Charlie Kirk

Kirk was best known as the founder of Turning Point USA, a conservative youth organization he launched in 2012 that grew into one of the most influential movements on college campuses. He was also a husband to Erika Kirk and father of two children, roles his friends and family described as his proudest achievements.

    Career and Legacy

Over more than a decade, Kirk became a nationally recognized voice in conservative politics. He dedicated much of his work to reaching what he called the “lost boys of the West” — young men struggling with purpose, direction, and faith. Through Turning Point USA, Kirk mentored students, built grassroots networks, and inspired a generation of activists.

But as Turek emphasized, Kirk’s true legacy went beyond politics. “Charlie right now is in heaven,” Turek said. “Not because he saved millions of kids out of darkness … not because he changed minds and chased votes … but because his Savior sacrificed himself for Charlie Kirk.”

    Public and Social Media Reactions

Video clips of Turek’s tribute circulated widely on social media, drawing praise from Kirk’s supporters who highlighted the author’s moving words about eternity and grace. Many attendees at the memorial also shared their reflections online, noting the unity and strength displayed by Erika Kirk and her family.

Official Statements or What Happens Next

Authorities have charged 22-year-old Tyler Robinson with Kirk’s killing, and legal proceedings are ongoing. Meanwhile, Erika Kirk has vowed to continue her husband’s mission, announcing that she will step into a leadership role at Turning Point USA.

As Turek concluded, he called on the audience to live with the same faith and conviction Kirk demonstrated: “Let’s honor Jesus. Let’s honor Charlie. Let’s honor Erika so that when we wake up every morning, the devil shrieks, ‘Oh, no! They’re awake again.’”
