Family of Missing Postal Worker Kierra Coles Seeks Answers Six Years After Disappearance

Chicago, IL — The family of Kierra Coles, a 26-year-old African American postal worker, is still seeking answers six years after she vanished without a trace. Coles, who was three months pregnant at the time, disappeared on October 2, 2018, and her family continues to search for closure.

    What Happened

Kierra Coles was last seen in the Chatham neighborhood on Chicago’s South Side, where surveillance footage showed her in her postal uniform, despite having called in sick to work that morning. Later that evening, cameras captured her leaving her home with an individual who has since become a person of interest. Together, they stopped at an ATM, where Coles made two withdrawals.

The following morning, the same person was seen returning to Coles’ home in a vehicle, entering the building, and leaving with unidentified items. He then drove away in his personal car, which had been parked near Coles’ residence overnight. After that, Coles was never seen again.

    Investigation and Lack of Progress

Despite years of investigation by the Chicago Police and the U.S. Postal Inspection Service, no suspects have been identified, and there have been no arrests made. Authorities have not confirmed a motive for Coles’ disappearance, leaving her family in the dark about what happened.

Her mother, Karen Phillips, has shared poignant memories of her daughter, describing Coles as someone who loved makeup, dancing, photography, and her job at the Postal Service. Phillips also emphasized how much Coles had been looking forward to becoming a mother. “As the years go on, it gets harder and harder,” Phillips said, reflecting on the pain of not having answers.

    Renewed Search for Information

Coles would now be 33 years old, and her due date passed six months after her disappearance without any new developments in the case. Advocates from the National Association of Letter Carriers have voiced concern over the strange details of the case, such as Coles calling in sick while appearing in uniform on camera.

To mark the ongoing search for answers, Coles’ family is planning to hold a press conference to raise awareness and renew attention to the case. A $68,000 reward is still available for tips that lead to an arrest and conviction in the case.

    What Happens Next

As the search for Kierra Coles continues, her family remains determined to find out what happened to her. The public is encouraged to come forward with any information that could help solve the mystery of her disappearance. Authorities and her family hope that the renewed media coverage will bring fresh leads in the case.
