Houston, Texas – July 2, 2025 — The search for Chase Allen Lackey, a 25-year-old man from Houston, Texas, who mysteriously disappeared on July 2, 2017, remains ongoing. Lackey, last seen walking his dog near his apartment complex, vanished without a trace, leaving family and authorities puzzled by his sudden disappearance.

    What Happened

Chase Lackey, originally from Crosby, Texas, was last seen around 7:00 PM on July 2, 2017, walking his Maltese dog, Champ, near his apartment complex in northeast Harris County. Chase had played in a recreational softball league game in Crosby, Texas, just days before and seemed to be in good spirits when he last spoke to his father, telling him, “I love you, Pop.” However, after that evening, he disappeared, leaving his family unable to get in contact with him.

Family members reported him missing after he failed to return home and did not respond to attempts to reach him. The Harris County Sheriff’s Office launched an investigation into his disappearance. Authorities discovered that all of his personal belongings were left behind in his apartment, including his keys, wallet, cell phone, driver’s license, and passport, which indicated no voluntary departure.

    Who Was Chase Lackey?

Born on November 22, 1991, Chase Lackey was a well-loved young man known for his hardworking nature and devotion to his family and friends. He worked as an ironworker at a plant construction company and had a passion for baseball. Chase was also an active participant in a local recreational softball league.

Friends and family remember Chase as a kind-hearted, generous individual who was always willing to help others. He had a strong bond with his parents, Debbie Diaz and Craig Lackey, and had a deep love for his dog, Champ, who was last seen with him during the time of his disappearance.

    The Investigation

Despite extensive efforts from both law enforcement and local volunteers, Chase Lackey’s disappearance remains unsolved. Investigators found no signs of forced entry at his apartment, and his truck was found parked outside, untouched. His personal items were left at the apartment, further raising suspicions of foul play.

The case has taken a troubling turn, with investigators suspecting that Chase may have been involved with individuals linked to illegal activities, though no concrete evidence has been found. Both Harris County Sheriff’s Office and Texas EquuSearch continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding his disappearance.

    Description and Missing Person Details

Chase is described as a white male, standing at 5’10” and weighing 150 pounds. He has brown hair and brown eyes, with several distinctive tattoos, including a cross on his left shoulder blade, words across his upper chest and shoulders, Asian characters on his right ribs, and Bible scriptures on his left arm.

Chase was last seen wearing red shorts and no shirt at the time of his disappearance. His dog, Champ, who was also missing, has never been found.

    Whereabouts and Help Needed

Chase Lackey’s case remains one of the many unsolved mysteries of the Houston area, with no clear explanation or leads into his whereabouts. The Harris County Sheriff’s Office and Texas EquuSearch are continuing their efforts, but they need the public’s help to locate Chase and bring answers to his family.

If you have any information regarding Chase Lackey’s disappearance, you are urged to contact Harris County Sheriff’s Office at (713) 221-6000 or Texas EquuSearch at (281) 309-9500. You may also reach out anonymously.

The Harris County Sheriff’s Office Case Number for this investigation is 17-107635. Please assist in helping bring closure to the Lackey family and uncover the truth behind Chase Lackey’s disappearance.
