Plymouth, MA – October 26, 2025 – The Plymouth community is reeling from the tragic loss of 18-year-old Matthew Wilson, who was killed in a devastating car crash on Friday, October 24, 2025. The collision occurred on State Road (Route 3A) near 129 State Road, leaving one dead and two others injured. The incident has sparked an outpouring of grief and tributes across the town, especially among friends, family, and former classmates.

    What Happened

The fatal crash occurred at around 8:30 a.m. when Matthew Wilson, driving a 2025 white Honda Civic, lost control of his vehicle. According to the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office, Wilson’s car veered over the solid double yellow line, colliding head-on with a 2020 gray Jeep Grand Cherokee traveling in the opposite direction.

The impact was severe, causing extensive damage to both vehicles. Emergency personnel, including Plymouth police, fire, and EMS, responded immediately to the scene. Despite lifesaving efforts, Matthew Wilson was found unresponsive and trapped in his car. He was rushed to Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Plymouth but was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

A 16-year-old passenger in Wilson’s vehicle was also injured and transported to South Shore Hospital for treatment. The driver of the Jeep, whose identity has not been disclosed, sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was also taken to the hospital for medical attention.

    Investigation and Cause of Crash

The Plymouth Police Department, in coordination with the Massachusetts State Police Accident Reconstruction Unit and the District Attorney’s Office, is continuing to investigate the cause of the crash. While preliminary reports suggest that Matthew Wilson’s vehicle veered into oncoming traffic, authorities are examining several potential contributing factors, including road conditions, vehicle data, and witness statements.

At this time, no criminal charges have been filed, and the investigation remains active. Authorities have not yet determined whether speed, distraction, or other factors played a role in the accident.

    Remembering Matthew Wilson

Matthew Wilson’s death has sent shockwaves throughout Plymouth, especially among students and staff at his former high school. Friends and loved ones remember him as a kind, motivated young man, always eager to help others. His warm personality, sense of humor, and compassion touched the lives of many.

Social media has been flooded with tributes from friends and community members expressing their sorrow and celebrating Matthew’s life. Many have shared stories of his positive attitude and dedication to his studies, noting that he had a bright future ahead of him.

As a tribute to his memory, a candlelight vigil is being organized by friends and classmates to offer support to his grieving family and honor his legacy.

Community Reflection and Call for Safe Driving

The death of Matthew Wilson serves as a sobering reminder of the importance of safe driving, particularly among young drivers. Community leaders have emphasized the need for continued awareness of road safety, urging all drivers, especially teenagers, to exercise caution while driving.

“Matthew’s passing has left a deep void in our community,” said a local leader. “We must remember the fragility of life and the importance of making every moment count.”

The Plymouth community continues to rally together in support of the Wilson family during this time of unimaginable grief. As the investigation into the crash continues, everyone who knew Matthew is left reflecting on the legacy of a young man who brought joy to all who crossed his path.
