Two Arrested After Baby Boy Killed by XL Bully in South East Wales

A tragic incident in Rogiet, South East Wales, has led to the death of a baby boy after an XL Bully dog attacked him on Sunday, November 2, 2025. Two individuals have been arrested on suspicion of having charge of the dog involved, and investigations are ongoing.

    What Happened

On November 2, 2025, a baby boy was fatally attacked by an XL Bully dog in Rogiet, Wales. The child, whose identity has not been released, was severely injured in the attack and later died from his injuries. The dog, a male, black XL Bully, was reported to have been under the control of two individuals who are now facing charges.

The two suspects, both from Rogiet, have been arrested on suspicion of being in charge of a dangerously out-of-control dog causing injury resulting in death. They have been released on bail as the investigation continues.

    Official Statements and Investigation

Gwent Police Assistant Chief Constable, Vicki Townsend, urged the public to refrain from speculation on social media while the investigation remains active. “We urge people not to speculate,” Townsend said, adding that anyone with information regarding the dog’s past behavior or interactions with the dog should contact the police directly.

“There is a lot of interest in our communities, but this is now a live criminal investigation,” Townsend emphasized.

The dog involved in the attack had been registered with the Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs (DEFRA) before the breed was banned, a detail confirmed by a Dog Legislation Officer earlier this week.

What We Know About the Dog

The dog involved in the fatal attack was a male, black XL Bully, a breed that has recently faced increased scrutiny due to safety concerns. While the dog had been legally registered prior to a breed-specific ban, the incident has reignited public debate about the safety of certain dog breeds and their regulation.

    Next Steps

As the investigation continues, police are appealing for any individuals who have had prior interactions with the dog or have information about its behavior to come forward. Authorities are working diligently to gather all the facts surrounding this tragic event.
