AUSTIN, TX – November 17, 2025 – A 24-year-old man has been arrested and charged with first-degree murder following the discovery of his roommate’s remains inside a cardboard box behind a bus stop in South Austin last week. The victim, identified as 63-year-old Robert Wentworth, was found on November 13, 2025, leading to a swift investigation by the Austin Police Department.

    What Happened

On the afternoon of November 13, at approximately 5:22 p.m., Austin police responded to a report of a deceased person at 4107 Victory Drive. Upon arrival, they discovered Robert Wentworth’s body inside a large cardboard box behind a bus stop. Wentworth showed signs of physical trauma and was pronounced dead at the scene at 5:53 p.m.

Homicide detectives and forensic experts began a detailed investigation, gathering evidence and speaking with witnesses. Authorities determined that Wentworth had been living with his 24-year-old roommate, Aidan Hunt, who lived just a few hundred yards away from the scene of the discovery. After executing a search warrant at Hunt’s residence, police uncovered evidence linking him to the homicide.

    Arrest and Charges

Aidan Hunt was arrested by the Lone Star Fugitive Task Force on Sunday morning without incident, on the 3900 block of Lamar Boulevard. Hunt is currently being held in the Travis County Jail with bail set at $100,000. He faces charges of first-degree murder in connection with the death of Robert Wentworth.

This case marks the 49th reported murder in Austin in 2025, adding to the growing concerns over violent crime in the city.

    Investigation and Community Response

The Austin Police Department is continuing its investigation into the circumstances surrounding Wentworth’s death. Authorities have encouraged anyone with additional information to come forward. Tips can be reported to the Austin Police Department at 512-974-TIPS, or anonymously through the Capital Area Crime Stoppers Program at austincrimestoppers.org or 512-472-8477.

    Final Thoughts

The tragic and senseless death of Robert Wentworth has shocked the South Austin community. As the investigation unfolds, local residents are reminded of the importance of community cooperation in solving violent crimes and bringing justice to victims and their families.
