De Soto, MO — The community of De Soto is in mourning following the tragic death of 65-year-old Kent Allen Rinearman, who passed away in a devastating mobile home fire early on Tuesday, November 25, 2025. Located south of Hillsboro, the fire has left family, friends, and neighbors in shock, struggling to come to terms with the sudden loss of a man who was beloved by all who knew him.

    What Happened

Kent Rinearman tragically lost his life in a mobile home fire at his residence on Castle Ranch Road, in the 11700 block, around 2:25 a.m. on November 25, 2025. The fire quickly engulfed the home, and despite the heroic efforts of firefighters from multiple districts—Hillsboro Fire, De Soto Fire Department, De Soto Rural, Antonia, and Hematite fire districts—the blaze proved too intense. Emergency responders from Valle Ambulance and Jefferson County 911 Dispatch were also on the scene, working diligently to contain the fire.

Firefighters arrived at 2:36 a.m. to find the mobile home completely consumed by flames. They entered the burning structure, but tragically, Kent was found in a bedroom and could not be rescued. The fire was brought under control approximately 30 minutes later, but the mobile home was lost in the process. Thankfully, no other injuries were reported, and it appears Kent was the sole resident of the home.

The Regional Medical Examiner’s Office is investigating the cause of Kent’s death, with support from the Missouri State Fire Marshal and Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office. While foul play is not suspected, the official cause of the fire is still under review.

    Who Was Kent Allen Rinearman?

Kent Rinearman was more than a tragic headline; he was a cherished member of the De Soto community, remembered for his calm demeanor, resilience, and deep care for those around him. Kent was a kind-hearted individual, always willing to help others with quiet generosity and compassion. His warm nature made him a friend to many, and his presence brought comfort to everyone he encountered.

Kent’s life was marked by simplicity and kindness, always finding joy in the small things and nurturing meaningful relationships with his family, friends, and neighbors. Whether he was lending a hand to a neighbor, offering a smile, or simply spending time with loved ones, Kent’s life was a reflection of the deep love he had for his community and his family.

    Community Response and Legacy

The news of Kent’s tragic passing has sent shockwaves through the De Soto community, where he was deeply loved and respected. His family, friends, and neighbors are left with fond memories of a man who made everyone feel special, heard, and cared for. The loss of Kent has left a significant void in the hearts of all who knew him, but his legacy of kindness and generosity will live on in the memories of those he touched.

As the investigation continues into the cause of the fire, Kent’s loved ones and the community are holding onto the countless moments of warmth and joy he shared with them. Kent’s life may have been cut short, but his spirit, his compassion, and the love he gave will continue to inspire and resonate within the hearts of those who had the honor of knowing him.

Official Statements and What Happens Next

As the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office and other authorities continue their investigation, the community has rallied around Kent’s family, offering support during this time of loss. While answers regarding the fire’s cause are still being sought, the community remains focused on honoring Kent’s life and cherishing the memories that will continue to live on.

Kent’s family has requested privacy as they mourn this unimaginable loss, and the community has responded with an outpouring of love and sympathy, ensuring that Kent’s memory will be forever cherished.
