The Casper community is mourning the loss of Frederick “Fred” Charles Feth, a beloved father, husband, and community leader, who passed away peacefully on December 3, 2025, at the age of 87. Fred’s passing marks the end of a life characterized by deep commitment to his family, profession, and the community he served so selflessly for decades.

    What Happened

Fred, born on July 29, 1938, in Tracy, Minnesota, passed away surrounded by those he loved. His loss has left a void not only in the hearts of his immediate family but also in the broader Casper, Wyoming, community where he had lived for over 50 years. His contributions to his family, work, and community will continue to resonate for generations to come.

Who Was Frederick “Fred” Charles Feth? / Background of the Case

Fred grew up with a strong sense of service and curiosity, traits that would define his life. He graduated from Grayslake High School in Grayslake, Illinois, and went on to earn a degree from DePauw University in Greencastle, Indiana, before attending University of Illinois Law School. His journey took him from Missouri, Kansas, and Minnesota, before he found his home in Casper, Wyoming, in 1973.

Fred’s life was also marked by his service in the United States Army, where he served with honor in the Intelligence Corps. His military background laid the foundation for his approach to leadership and service, which he carried throughout his professional and community involvement.

    Career, Legacy, and Contributions

Fred had a long and varied career, beginning with his work at Control Data Corporation in Minneapolis before transferring to Casper, Wyoming. He went on to contribute his expertise to Bear Creek Uranium and the Morton Ranch Project, but it was his 16 years at Casper College as Director of Human Resources that solidified his role as a prominent figure in the community. Fred retired from Casper College in 2000, leaving behind a legacy of leadership, kindness, and commitment.

His service was not confined to the workplace; Fred was also deeply involved in his faith and the Shepherd of the Hills Presbyterian Church, where he served as an elder and offered his leadership. He was an active member of several local organizations, including the Presbytery of Wyoming, the Casper Rotary Club, the Casper Stamp Club, and the Natrona County Republican Party. His leadership extended to the City of Casper, where he served on the Civil Service Commission and the Planning and Zoning Commission.

Fred’s professional contributions included serving as both the Casper Chapter President and State Council Director for the Society for Human Resource Management. His influence in these roles helped shape the future of human resources in Wyoming.

    Public and Social Media Reactions

Fred was known for his warm personality and commitment to those around him, which led to an outpouring of tributes from friends, colleagues, and community members. Many spoke about his willingness to lend a helping hand, his generosity, and his ability to bring people together. One longtime friend said, “Fred had a way of making everyone feel important, and his kindness was unmatched. He made a lasting impact on everyone he met.”

In addition to his family and colleagues, his legacy of service continues to inspire his peers in Casper and beyond. His commitment to his family, community, and profession will remain a guiding light for all who had the privilege of working alongside him.

Official Statements or What Happens Next

A memorial service to celebrate Fred’s life will be held in Casper, Wyoming, with details to be announced soon. The service will offer a chance for family, friends, and the community to come together and reflect on the lasting impact Fred had on everyone he met. His family has expressed deep gratitude for the kindness and support they have received from the community during this difficult time.

    Closing

Fred’s passing is a significant loss to the community of Casper, but his legacy will endure. The warmth, leadership, and service he exemplified throughout his life have left a mark on everyone he touched. Fred will be remembered for his kindness, dedication, and the quiet strength with which he approached all aspects of his life.
