Cullman County, AL – A fatal two-vehicle accident early Wednesday morning on December 10, 2025, claimed the life of 36-year-old Robert W. Nerovich from Hayden, Alabama. The crash, which occurred around 6 a.m. on Interstate 65, disrupted traffic and prompted a swift response from emergency services and state officials.

    What Happened

The deadly collision took place near the Alabama 69 off-ramp, about one mile north of Dodge City. The area is a busy stretch of I-65, frequently traveled by commuters, freight transporters, and long-distance motorists, especially in the early morning hours. According to initial reports, Nerovich was driving a 2011 Ford E-350 when it collided with a 2026 Freightliner truck.

Despite immediate intervention from emergency responders, Nerovich was declared dead at the scene. His vehicle sustained severe damage, indicating the force of the collision. The Freightliner, driven by 26-year-old Tyavian T. Ingram from Raleigh, North Carolina, did not report any injuries, and Ingram remained at the scene to cooperate with law enforcement.

    Investigation and Traffic Impact

The crash caused significant disruption to traffic on I-65 for several hours as law enforcement worked to secure the site, gather evidence, and clear the wreckage. Drivers experienced long delays and were advised to find alternative routes during the investigation and clean-up process.

The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s Highway Patrol Division (ALEA) is handling the investigation. Their focus will be to reconstruct the events leading to the crash, assess the condition of the vehicles, and review statements from both drivers, any surveillance footage, and the roadway conditions. Initial findings regarding speed, distraction, or other contributing factors have not yet been released by investigators.
